Lichide de marcare

Layout fluids are specialised metalworking fluid coatings that are applied to metal surfaces to enhance the visibility of scribed lines and other markings during machining and fabrication processes to improve overall accuracy. Here at Cromwell we have range of layout fluids from leading brands Orapi, Stuarts and Rocol. For more information see our Working With Metalworking Fluids Guide.

What are Layout Fluids?

Layout fluids, also known as marking fluids or layout dyes, are coatings applied to metal surfaces to provide a contrasting background. This contrast enhances the visibility of scribed lines, punched marks and other layout markings, which makes them easier to see and more precise.

When are Layout Fluids Used?

Layout fluids are typically used in metalworking before machining, cutting, or welding. They ensure that measurements and markings are clearly visible, aiding in accurate and precise work during various stages of manufacturing.

Types of Layout Fluids

There are various colours of layout fluids that are used depending on the specific needs of the metalworking task. All ensure maximum visibility and precision for the markings:
Blue Layout Fluid  -    The most common type of layout fluid that offers a dark blue background which highlights markings and scribed lines clearly. It is versatile and widely used in various metalworking applications.
White Layout Fluid  -    Used on non-reflective or dark surfaces, it provides a sharp contrast which makes fine details easy to see on dark metals.
Clear Layout Fluid  -    This type provides a transparent coating which enhances the visibility of markings without altering the appearance of the metal surface.
Red Layout Fluid  -    Provides a bright red background that creates a strong contrast against the metal, suitable for applications where clear visibility of markings is essential.
Yellow Layout Fluid  -    Creates a bright, high-contrast background which is vital in low-light conditions or with metals that blend with other layout fluid colours.
